Daniel Farke urged his Leeds United to stay humble and hungry in their quest for Premier League survival after their historic triumph over 10-man Manchester United. 

Leeds enjoyed their first league win over United since September 2002 with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Monday, with Noah Okafor's first-half brace doing the damage. 

Casemiro's 69th-minute header made things interesting, but Leeds held on for their first win away from home against the Red Devils since February 1981, which ended a run of 18 league visits without a win (D7 L11).

But Farke's side had their chances in the first half, most notably Ao Tanaka, who was denied by a brilliant last-ditch tackle by Lisandro Martinez, who was later sent off after pulling the hair of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. 

Leeds' 10 shots was the most that United have faced in the opening half of a Premier League game this season, and while Farke said his team should have been more clinical, he was thrilled to move six points clear of the relegation zone. 

"Yes. A win is always good for the mood, for confidence. Also for the table," Farke told Sky Sports when asked if this win would give his team confidence moving forward. 

"The reality is that, performance wise, we should already be with far more than 40 points. This team has performed over the whole season with unbelievable consistency.

"We can be more effective in both boxes. For that reality, we are on 36 points. A few more points are needed.

"For now, three points closer, nothing is achieved yet, we have to stay humble, grounded, hungry, we need to make sure we are also on it in the upcoming games to win as many points as possible."

Leeds also ended a run of six top-flight games without a win (D4 L2), while it's just their second away win this season after a 3-1 victory at Wolves in September.

The Opta supercomputer has assigned Farke's men just a 2.2% chance of being relegated to the Championship, with their most likely position being 15th (52.6%). 

"It's important we don't read too much into the external noise and continue to focus on what's in front of us," striker Calvert-Lewin warned. 

"It's easy to come here and make history, but it doesn't matter come the end of the season when the points tallies are in.

"That's all we're focussed on – one game after another, making sure that we stay in the Premier League.

"It's a massive result for us. We came here to win, that's how we set up. We executed the game plan and came away with three points. We're delighted."

Calvert-Lewin was also on hand to discuss the red card that saw Martinez dismissed in the 56th minute, which was United's sixth Premier League sending off since the start of last season, a total only Chelsea (nine) can beat. 

"I don't know, I don't make the rules. I felt my hair get pulled, told the ref, he makes the decisions," he said. "Unfortunate for him, whether he meant it or not. I hold no grudges."
