Fabian Hurzler expressed his excitement about what his future holds at Brighton after putting pen to paper on a new deal with the club. 

Hurzeler, who was appointed as Roberto De Zerbi's successor in June 2024, has signed a new three-year contract that will keep him with the Seagulls until 2029. 

The 33-year-old's previous deal was set to expire next year, but he has chosen to extend his stay on the south coast amid rumoured interest from Bayer Leverkusen. 

Hurzeler became the youngest permanent coach in Premier League history two years ago and guided Brighton to an eighth-place finish in his first season at the helm. 

Despite missing out on European football in 2024-25, Brighton are in the mix this term and are two points behind sixth-place Bournemouth with three Premier League games left. 

Hurzeler has won 37 of his 85 matches in charge in all competitions (D25 L23), but he believes the best is still to come from his Brighton team. 

"I absolutely love working for this club and living in the city, and I am delighted to have agreed a new contract," Hurzeler told Brighton's official website.

"To have this long-term commitment from the club is an honour, and one which only reinforces my desire to succeed in delivering on our shared long-term vision.

"From the beginning, our focus has always been on forging an identity, developing the team, challenging the establishment and pushing our standards every day.

"I'm proud of what we have done so far, and even more excited about what is still to come."

Hurzeler's new deal comes just months after Brighton supporters wanted him to be sacked following a run of six Premier League games without a victory (D3 L3). 

Since then, they have won six of their last nine top-flight outings, though they saw a stretch of four victories in five games halted by Newcastle United last time out. 

They have only lost consecutive Premier League games once this season, in February against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, and they face already-relegated Wolves next.
