McKennie's agent hits out at 'lies' over Juventus contract talks
Cory Gibbs, the agent of Weston McKennie, has quashed rumours of contract discussions breaking down with Juventus.
Weston McKennie's agent Cory Gibbs has hit out at reports that the midfielder's contract negotiations with Juventus have broken down and he could be set for a move to MLS.
McKennie, whose deal expires in the summer of 2026, is yet to sign a new contract and reports in the Italian media have claimed issues such as agent commissions have led to talks breaking down, which could lead to him playing in his home country next year.
However, Gibbs took to X to discredit those rumours on Tuesday, posting: “I normally don’t respond to social media posts, but when false information is being spread, especially from verified handles, I have to intervene.
“This is Weston’s agent and I can confirm everything below is FALSE. Know your facts before spreading lies and propaganda.”
As his deal is set to run out in June, McKennie will be free to speak to other clubs once the January transfer window opens on Thursday.
The American has played in Europe since 2016, featuring for Schalke, Juventus and Leeds United.
