Juve 'lacked determination and desire' in Parma defeat, says Tudor
Juventus registered just two shots on target from 16 attempts during their Serie A defeat by Parma on Wednesday.
Igor Tudor conceded Juventus "lacked determination and desire" during their 1-0 defeat by Parma on Wednesday.
The Bianconeri missed the chance to leapfrog Bologna and regain fourth place in Serie A, after Mateo Pellegrino's first-half header settled the contest at Stadio Ennio Tardini.
While Juve remain in fifth place - the last Champions League qualifying spot in the Italian top flight - Lazio applied the pressure by moving level on points following a 2-0 victory over Genoa.
Despite registering 37 crosses to Parma's 11, and 39 touches in the opposition box, Tudor's side recorded just two shots on target - the first in the 65th minute - from 16 attempts.
And the head coach, who replaced Thiago Motta last month, knew his players fell short of expectations against.their 16th-place opponents.
"We lacked a bit of everything," he said. "We pushed a lot in the second half, but we were not dangerous enough.
"We lacked determination and desire. Too many times, we were just happy to participate. We must grow, be wicked and have the desire to win and fight.
"Parma are doing well now. They play simple football, but they have a competitive spirit. We deserved to score a goal, but unfortunately, we were not determined enough up front.
"We could have done more. When you reach the last 20 or 25 metres, you need to score. If you don’t do it, the risk is losing the game."
Pellegrino's winner means Juventus have conceded 10 headed goals in a Serie A season for the first time since 2009-10 (also 10).
However, the Bianconeri must quickly dust themselves down before resuming their battle for a top-five place against Monza on Saturday.
"We are disappointed, but we look ahead," Tudor added. "There are still five games remaining and a lot of points at stake. We play again already in four days' time."
