Goals from Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma, and Yeremy Pino helped Crystal Palace to their first Premier League home win over Pierre Sage after beating Nottingham Forest 3-1.
Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest: Superb comeback seals Sage's first home league win
Crystal Palace came from behind to pick up their maiden Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
They went behind early on to Dan Ndoye, but Palace weathered the pressure and eventually came out on top to earn their first-ever win over Forest in the competition.
Forest needed only three minutes to break the deadlock as Ndoye capitalised on a careless backpass from Anan Khalaili before driving a fine strike beyond Walter Benitez to stun Selhurst Park.
Palace nearly found an immediate response, though, as Jorgen Strand Larsen twice threatened to restore parity, only to be denied by a sharp Matz Sels save and a timely block from Murillo.
But Forest regained control and enjoyed a host of chances. Ndoye headed straight at Benitez before Daniel Munoz failed to get one over his old side, swiping a dipping effort inches wide.
The Tricky Trees should have doubled their lead when Morgan Gibbs-White's long-range clip crashed against the crossbar, with the rebound falling invitingly to Liam Delap, whose close-range volley was superbly kept out by Benitez.
Forest's wastefulness eventually came back to haunt them as Palace staged a remarkable first-half fightback, with Kamada capping off a fine team move to level the score with his first Premier League goal.
And there was still time for the Eagles to turn the contest completely on its head on the stroke of half-time, as Sels parried Tyrick Mitchell's wicked volley, and Lerma bundled the resulting corner through Sels' legs.
Forest emerged from the break seeking a response, but their wastefulness persisted as Xaver Schlager and Gibbs-White squandered promising openings. Palace remained dangerous, though, with Sels denying Lerma a second header with a timely save.
Palace made their next opportunity count and extended their lead just before the hour mark as Pino capitalised on slack defending, slotting home after Sels parried Strand Larsen's effort into the Spaniard’s path.
Sage's side continued to push for a fourth, but Strand Larsen failed to trouble Sels before Benitez once again denied Forest, parrying Chris Wood's header late on.
Forest made to pay as Palace celebrate
Forest will rue their wastefulness after squandering numerous chances to extend their lead, denying Oliver Glasner a happy return to Selhurst Park.
They registered 16 first-half shots – their joint-most before the break in a Premier League match since their latest promotion – reaching 10 attempts inside just 22 minutes.
Indeed, fans were treated to a highly entertaining first half as the two sides combined for 3.8 expected goals (xG) before the break – the highest first-half total in a Premier League match in 2026.
Forest's profligacy ultimately proved costly, though, ending their nine-match unbeaten away league run against Palace (W3 D6), dating back to December 2003.
Glasner's side scored just once despite generating 2.97 xG, while Palace netted three times, doing full justice to their 2.38 xG. The match also featured 12 big chances, with only Manchester United against Ipswich Town in August producing more this season (13).
For Sage, the victory marked his first home league win in charge and Palace's maiden Premier League triumph over Forest in 13 attempts (previously D8 L4). The Eagles have now beaten all 35 teams they have faced at least five times in the competition.
