Bayern Munich 7-0 Union Berlin: Kane makes Bundesliga history as Olise hits hat-trick in rout

Harry Kane wrote himself into the Bundesliga record books as his brace took him past the 100-goal mark in Bayern Munich's 7-0 thrashing of Union Berlin on Friday. 

Kane netted his 100th and 101st goals on his 98th appearance in the competition, becoming the quickest player to score a century of goals in the Bundesliga. 

The England captain smashed Dieter Muller's previous record of 129 outings, but Michael Olise also starred by scoring his first hat-trick for Vincent Kompany's side.

After some good work from Alphonso Davies down the left, the Canadian picked out Jamal Musiala, who found the bottom-right corner to put Bayern in front in the 18th minute. 

Bayern pulled further clear when Kane stepped up to score a penalty to make Bundesliga history, after Olise had been fouled inside the area by Tom Rothe to win the spot-kick. 

Union fell further behind two minutes before the break when Musiala teed up Olise, who curled a sensational finish in at the near post to all but secure the win for Bayern. 

However, Bayern did not let up. Kane brought up his brace nine minutes after the restart when he headed past Frederik Ronnow, with substitute Ismael Saibari coming off the bench to score his first Bundesliga goal in the 70th minute. 

But the damage was not done there. Olise latched on to Tom Bischof's ball over the top before rolling into an open net, and he sealed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with a sensational strike that swerved into the top-right corner.

It seemed only a matter of time before Kane would add yet another Bundesliga record to his tally, and he did so here with another brilliant display, further proving why he is one of the favourites to claim the Ballon d'Or, the winner of which will be announced next month. 

But Kane's landmark match had to be shared with the red-hot Olise. For the fourth time, he notched four goal contributions in a single Bundesliga match.

Only Robert Lewandowski (six times), Miroslav Klose and Arjen Robben (five times each) have done so more often since Opta data collection began in 2004-05 (among others, Kane has also done so four times), while Olise also finished with team-high totals for shots (six), touches (106) and successful dribbles (five). 

Bayern have now not lost any of their 15 Bundesliga matches against Union (W10 D5) – no other team in Bundesliga history has faced an opponent as often without suffering a single defeat, and they were deserving of their win here. 

Kompany's side finished with an expected goals (xG) total of 3.77 from their 25 shots compared to Union's tally of 0.34 from their three attempts, with Mauro Lustrinelli's side conceding at least three goals in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in their history.
