Inter's dramatic 3-2 victory over Como to reach the Coppa Italia final has Cristian Chivu dreaming of a domestic double, with his team also closing in on the Serie A title. 

The Nerazzurri looked set to fall at the semi-final stage of the competition in back-to-back years after Martin Baturina and Lucas da Cunha put Como in control. 

However, Hakan Calhanoglu's 69th-minute drive kickstarted their comeback, with the Inter midfielder heading home four minutes from time to level things up. 

And there was to be one more twist, with Calhanoglu once again involved.

This time, he returned the favour to Petar Sucic, who had previously set up the Turkiye international's two goals, allowing him to pick out the bottom-right corner and spark wild scenes at San Siro.

Calhanoglu was involved in three goals in a single match for the first time for Inter in all competitions, while he also scored his first headed goal for the Nerazzurri.

And he delivered it at a crucial time as the nine-time victors booked their place in their 16th Coppa Italia final, with only Roma (17) and Juventus (22) reaching more. 

It was the second time in 10 days that Inter had come from two goals down against Como, having also beaten them 4-3 in Serie A, and Chivu acknowledged the difficulty his side faced en route to the showpiece match. 

"We earned our place here with hard work, putting ourselves in a position that allows us to dream, to achieve the targets of the Serie A title and Coppa Italia trophy," Chivu told Sport Mediaset, as quoted by Football Italia. 

"We were aware of what Como were doing, and we managed to put a lot of goals past one of the best defensive teams in Italy.

"These lads care so much about the good of Inter that they fight this hard to turn it around. Overturning a 2-0 deficit against Como twice in 10 days, only Inter can do that."

For Como, however, their hopes of reaching a first Coppa Italia final crumbled right in front of them, despite an impressive display.

They edged the expected goals (xG) battle after registering a total of 1.65 from their 16 shots, seven of which were on target, to Inter's tally of 1.43 from 22 attempts. 

But when asked for his post-match assessment, Cesc Fabregas was left to rue a glut of missed opportunities, having seen Marc Oliver Kempf head against the crossbar before they took the lead, as well as Assane Diao missing a one-on-one shortly after Calhanoglu's first goal made it 2-1.

However, Fabregas expressed pride in his team's achievements, with Como currently fifth in Serie A and five points off the Champions League places, though the Spaniard conceded his side are still some way off from being on Inter's level. 

"The game changed after the goal for 2-1, but before that, we had a chance with Diao to go 3-1 up when he was one-on-one, so that could've changed it in the other direction," Fabregas said.

"I know where we started this journey two and a half years ago. Now we are challenging to enter the Coppa Italia Final. We come close to beating Inter twice in a few weeks.

"It's all very nice, but I know where we come from. I knew these lads would give me a great performance after Friday's defeat to Sassuolo, and they did that.

"We are still missing something, but again, we knew that. I know where they are in the process, and we are up against a team of veterans who have been together for six or seven years, so it is maybe not easy, but you're certainly more likely to win the Scudetto with this squad.

"They were in the Champions League final last season, they are a winning team. We must continue our journey, it was important for me to see where we were.

"Are we on the same level as Inter? No, but we are close. We're just not quite as strong in the two penalty areas."
