Doue hails PSG's 'magnificent' and 'historic' 2025
Paris Saint-Germain rounded off an impressive calendar year with a 4-0 win over Vendee Fontenay in the Coupe De France on Saturday.
Desire Doue labelled Paris Saint-Germain’s 2025 as “magnificent” and “historic” as they ended the calendar year with a 4-0 win over Vendee Fontenay in the Coupe de France.
Doue opened the scoring in the round of 64 tie before a penalty from Ousmane Dembele and a brace from Goncalo Ramos secured the holders' progression.
It marked PSG’s 50th win in all competitions in 2025, the highest for a Ligue 1 side in a calendar year, while they also scored four goals in a single match more often than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues this year (22).
Luis Enrique led PSG to their first Champions League title in May, one of six trophies they lifted across 2025, while they also reached the final of the revamped Club World Cup in the summer.
It was also a brilliant year for Dembele off the pitch as he won the 2025 Ballon d’Or award for his exploits with PSG last term.
Doue, who scored in the Champions League against Inter, believes PSG have a lot to be proud of this year.
“This year? It's magnificent, historic, it's magnificent,” Doue told Bein Sports.
“We've made history in world football and for the club, with our first Champions League title and six trophies in a single calendar year. It's magnificent.
“We're very happy, very proud of our season. We thank the staff and the fans who are always there for us. Congratulations also to all my teammates and the management.”
PSG return to action on January 4 against local rivals Paris FC in Ligue 1, with the champions one point behind Lens in second.
Luis Enrique enjoyed his side’s victory in the cup, but is looking forward to having a break.
“We played a very good match. It's always tough to play against a lower-division team. You have to be focused the whole match. We played a very good match,” said the PSG head coach.
“When the forwards score goals, it's positive for them. We're happy. We're looking to improve in every match. We did what we wanted.
“A well-deserved vacation? Very well deserved! I hope to have a vacation without a press conference, no journalists. Just family and friends.”
