Barcelona want to win LaLiga 'as soon as possible' – Cubarsi unconcerned with potential Clasico celebrations
Barcelona are within touching distance of their 29th LaLiga title following their confident 2-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday.
Pau Cubarsi says Barcelona will not delay sealing the LaLiga title to celebrate against Real Madrid in their upcoming Clasico meeting on May 10.
Hansi Flick's side moved one step closer towards defending their league title with a 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday, with goals from Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford securing victory at the Coliseum.
That result ended a five-match run without a win against Getafe for the Blaugrana (D4 L1), which marked both their longest-ever winless run away to the Azulones and their longest winless away streak against any opponent in LaLiga.
Saturday's victory has put them 11 points clear of Los Blancos with five matches left to play this season, though Cubarsi insisted the focus is on securing the title at the earliest opportunity rather than waiting for a potential celebration against Madrid at the Camp Nou.
When asked whether he would prefer a guard of honour in Barcelona's next match against Osasuna or a title celebration against Madrid in El Clasico the following matchday, the Spaniard was unequivocal in his response.
"We want to win the league only as soon as possible," he told reporters.
"Everything is happening so fast, I'm still processing all of it. But I'm happy the team is doing well. This was a key match to win and put us in a strong position in the league but we still have to give it our all.
