Chivu says Inter's domestic double should not be taken for granted
Inter are celebrating their first double since 2010, after Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez downed Lazio in the Coppa Italia final.
Cristian Chivu said Inter's domestic success should never be taken for granted after they completed a Serie A and Coppa Italia double, while Lautaro Martinez said the Nerazzurri coach had done a "10 out of 10" job.
Inter added the Coppa to their league title with a 2-0 success over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, with Marcus Thuram and Martinez scoring in the first half.
Only Juventus (15) have won the Coppa more often than Inter, who have now lifted Italy's domestic cup on 10 occasions, while they have won each of their last five finals in the competition.
This is the first time the Nerazzurri have won the domestic double since 2010, when Chivu was part of a team that also won the Champions League under Jose Mourinho.
Although Inter fell short in Europe again this season, falling to Bodo/Glimt in the knockout-stage play-offs, Chivu said winning trophies at home is still something to celebrate.
"Inter won two trophies this season, we deserved them after a good campaign," Chivu told Sportmediaset.
"We are all happy with what we have overcome in these years. We're happy for our fans, happy for the club always showing us support.
"We won the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia, and that should never be taken for granted, so we're very happy."
